Let’s be honest… 2020 was a mess. It was more than a mess, it was mind altering nightmare of a year. And to be honest, it was hard to not let it effect me on a mental level.
I tried to stay positive and use the time locked in the house to my advantage, hoping to finish a book or two. But I wasn’t as focused as I hoped to be, and I wasn’t alone in this. I spoke to other authors that were experience same troubles I was… troubles with staying focused in a landscape of Covid and terrible news, trouble with harnessing the creative forces that aided us so well in the past.
But 2021 marks a new start. Sure, Covid is still going on and we still face many challenges, but the turning of the year marks a restart. I plan on making it my year, and I encourage you all to do the same as well.
How am I going to achieve this? I’m setting goals, and I’m setting them now. And, for accountability sake, I’m posting them here for you to see.
1. I vow to write 5,000 new words each week.
2. I will continue to edit and proofread the WIP I already have completed.
3. I will post more frequently on Twitter, and I’ll try my hand at Instagram. It’s good to stay connected with our communities as much as possible.
4. I will post here each week, updating anyone who happens to read this on my progress.
And, 5. I WILL have a new book release announced by the beginning of summer–which is June 20th.
And those are my goals for 2021. Hopefully these goals will help to make me not only a better author, but also a better member of the community of writers online that follow.
Wish me luck, as I wish it upon you!
